Purple Flag in Beckenham

The Purple Flag team in Beckenham, comprised of officers from LB Bromley and volunteers from West Beckenham RA, Copers Cope Area RA and Beckenham Business Association, have been working hard to improve the evening and night-time economy and lessen any potential adverse impact on local residents.

The team has so far achieved taxi marshals for early morning when the clubs close, door staff trained to deal with vulnerable people and we have also organized a meeting between licensees of the clubs and bars around Beckenham Junction and local residents to mitigate the effects on residents of the early hours economy. Both residents and licensees found the meeting very helpful in understanding each others’ points of view and licensees were very open to suggestions for operational changes that could help.

The team are also planning, with help from the licensees, to organize events in the spring for families in the early evening. Watch this space for details.

The Team will be applying for a renewal of the Purple Flag award in June.

Please help us by completing this short online survey on how you feel about Beckenham, what you use the town centre for, and its safety.

Beckenham Green Christmas Tree

Beckenham’s Christmas Tree was lit on 2 December at the Christmas Market

WBRA part funded this tree from a donation. LB Bromley paid for half, and other donors were Copers Cope Area RA, Beckenham Business Association and local businesses.

The tree can be re-used, so provides good value for money as well as being rather lovely!
