Beckenham High Street Improvements Update

Beckenham Improvements work – 6 August 2018

Burnhill Road / Kelsey Square Junction with High Street

  • The junction works are now complete. It will be reopened to traffic from Monday 6th August. All temporary traffic management and parking suspensions which have been in place since May will revert back to pre these works. A traffic marshal will be in attendance in Burnhill Road on 6th August from 0800 – 1700 to help residents and road users. Parking dispensation during the works will finish on Monday 6th August. All traffic management will revert to normal except for left turns out of Kelsey Square on to the High Street.

Bus Stop Fairfield Road and Temporary High Street Road Closure

  • The temporary black top, tarmac will be removed on the 6th August for a new bus stop. The granite benches will be installed over the night of the 7th/8th.
  • The High Street to Fairfield Road will be closed Tuesday 7th August from 20.00 pm to 04.00 am Wednesday 8th August. Temporary diversions will be put in place during this time. • The kerbing and paving has commenced on the North East corner of the War Memorial roundabout.
  • Forthcoming Works.
  • Paving will be completed in part of Burnhill Road.
  •  War Memorial Roundabout • Paving works will continue on the North-East corner of the War Memorial roundabout outside the cinema. This is estimated to take 2 weeks.  Street lights will continue to be installed at various locations. Cycle stands to be installed at various locations.
  • • As from Monday 30th July snagging work has taken place on the tree planters at Beckenham Green. The resin around the seating area should be laid down on 31st August. Preparation work for this will begin two days prior to the resin laying stage.
  • • Kerb laying, new drainage and paving has almost completed between Burrell Row and Village Way.

Beckenham Improvements work – 30 July 2018

Beckenham Green

• As from Monday 30th July snagging work will be taking place on the tree planters. This work should take approximately three weeks to complete.

• The resin around the seating area should be laid down on 31st August. Preparation work for this will resume two days prior to the resin laying stage.

This section of the green will be out of bounds to the general public from Monday 30th July through to 1st September. The rest of the green will be accessible through that time.

Completed works.

The junction of Burnhill Road Junction with The High Street is now open to pedestrians.

• The paving is complete on the North West corner of the War Memorial roundabout.

• Paving between Prezzo and Zizzi has been completed.

• Kerb laying and new drainage has been completed between Burrell Row and Sainsbury. Paving has commenced.

 Phase 5 works Lidl to Village Way.

• The junction between Burnhill Road and Kelsey Square will be reopen the week starting Monday the 6th August and all traffic management will revert to normal except for left turns out of Kelsey Square on to the High Street.

• Paving will be laid in part of Burnhill Road.

 War Memorial Roundabout

 • Groundworks will continue on the North-East corner of the War Memorial

 Roundabout outside the cinema.  

• Street lights will continue to be installed at various locations. Cycle stands to be installed at various locations.

Completed works.

  • The paving is complete on the North West corner of the War Memorial roundabout.
  • Paving has continued outside Prezzo and across the Kelsey Square / High Street junction and outside Haks barbers. The entrance to Coopers Mews is completed.
  • Kerb laying and new drainage is completed between Burrell Row and Sainsbury. Paving has commenced

Phase 5 works Lidl to Village Way.

  • From Monday the 21st June the junction between Burnhill Road and Kelsey Square has been closed to traffic. The road will reopen the week starting Monday the 6th August and all traffic management will revert to normal except for left turns out of Kelsey Square on to the High Street.
  • The junction of Kelsey Square and Burnhill Road will be jet washed and due open to pedestrians next week.
  • Paving will be completed outside Zizis.
  • The parking bays outside Zizzi will be retained for deliveries only.

 War Memorial Roundabout

  • Preparation for groundworks will commence on the North-East corner of the War Memorial roundabout outside the cinema.
  • Street lights will continue to be installed at various locations.
  • Cycle stands to be installed at various locations.

Burrell Row to Sainsbury

  • Kerbing and groundworks will continue.

Completed works.

  • The kerbing and paving is largely completed on the North West corner of the War Memorial roundabout.
  • Paving has continued outside Prezzo and across the Kelsey Square / High Street junction and kerbing and has continued outside Haks barbers. The cross over entrance to Coopers Mews has been completed.
  • Kerbing has continued between Burrell Row and Sainsbury.

 Phase 5 works Lidl to Village Way.

  • From Monday the 21st June the junction between Burnhill Road, Kelsey Square and the High Street has been closed to traffic. Kelsey Lane remains two-way between Uplands and Wayside where it is closed to traffic. Pedestrian access is maintained from Burnhill Road, Kelsey Square and Kelsey Lane to the High Street. From Fairfield Road to Kelsey Park Road the one way is reversed so traffic drives up Fairfield and left at Burnhill Rd.
  • Paving will continue at Kelsey Square and at the junction with Burnhill Road. This is likely to take another week to complete and a few days to cure before reopening to vehicles again.
  • The parking bays outside Zizzi will be retained for deliveries only. The footway between Burnhill Road and the High Street has been reinstated but is currently narrowed for safety reasons. It is therefore very difficult for wheelchairs and pushovers to navigate. We apologise for this and will endeavour to open it to its full width ASAP.

 War Memorial Roundabout

  • Paving work will almost be complete on the North-West corner of the War Memorial roundabout. The pedestrian crossing may need to be temporarily closed and pedestrians diverted around the roundabout whilst the central island is enlarged.
  • Street lights will continue to be installed at various locations.

 Burrell Row to Sainsbury

  • Kerbing and groundworks will continue.

Completed works.

  • The kerbing and paving has commenced on the North West corner of the War Memorial roundabout.
  • Paving has continued outside Prezzo and across the Kelsey Square / High Street junction and kerbing and has continued outside Haks barbers.
  • Between the War Memorial roundabout and Burrell Row the paving and kerbing has almost been completed.

Phase 5 works Lidl to Village Way.

  • From Monday the 21st June the junction between Burnhill Road, Kelsey Square and the High Street has been closed to traffic. War Memorial Roundabout

  • Paving work will continue on the third corner of the War Memorial roundabout.
  • Street lights are being installed at various locations.
  • Two way traffic has been reinstated between Bromley Road and Manor Road.
  • Two way traffic has also been reinstated between Thorntons Corner and Fairfield Road to enable access to Fairfield Road without using the main diversion.
