The works are almost complete. A seat has been installed at
Thorntons Corner.
But there are still a few outstanding items. The new art deco “O” shape seat at the Odeon has been installed alongside a traditional bench, but we await the finishing touches and we await trees and other plants.
We hope they will be completed soon.
The new street signs look good.
Sadly there is no sign of our much loved Countdown displays being re-instated in the three bus stops where they were originally – Lidl, Wimpy and near the war Memorial. TfL say there is a problem with the electricity supply and we are not a priority! Such a pity for TfL to spend so much money on our lovely High Street and then not finish the job properly.
The other outstanding items are ……………..
- The granite planters for Kelsey Square and Village Way are due to arrive in the country the last week of February. They will have to still clear customs and be checked. I hope they are installed first half of March but ASAP. I have also requested that they are planted up by Idverde straight away. The Village Way street names plates will go on the planters.
- The remaining trees are apparently due in March.
- The cinema carpark surfacing will happen any time soon depending on the weather.
- The remaining street lanterns on buildings and columns to be removed are also imminent. The same team will also remove the last of the unnecessary signage and paint / repaint anything that should be repainted.
- Benches and street name plates are being done at the moment.
- The uplighters under the trees outside Nat West did not deliver what the manufacturer claimed. After a dispute they are footing the bill to provide more lights that will have more impact. This is due for about 2-3 weeks time.
- The remaining issue is the Bowie Flash. It seems that after several attempts at making material samples the colours could not be achieved. LB Bromley are working on a Plan B. Hopefully this will be still be implemented in the spring.
