There have been a number of serious flytipping incidents in Beckenham recently. the most recent is this in Copers Cope Road where large trailers full of compacted waste have been left for the council – and you and me as council tax payers – to clean up.
The trailers are abandoned with the waste. They sell second hand for only around £500, so it is worth the criminals’ while to just dump them.
LB Bromley stresses that for ordinary households, there is still a Duty of Care as to who we pay to take rubbish away. They provide these cards for our information.
You could be fined up to £5000 if you don’t use a registered waste carrier.
You can find who they are at http://www.bromley.gov.uk/info/200084/recycling_rubbish_and_waste/82/waste_carriers
or call the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506
Always obtain a Waste Transfer Note as proof of the transfer to an authorised person.
