Work for week commencing 29 January 2018.
Beckenham Improvements work update
- Conway is continuing to work on the area between the Yee Olde George Inn and Lidl. Kerbing is complete and paving is being laid. Minor works are required outside one of the entrances to the George. It is estimated that that works will take 2 further weeks subject to unanticipated problems.
- Between Thornton’s Corner and 116 High Street. The considerable drainage required for this area due to its history of flooding has been completed in the first section. The parking bays have been completed. Paving should nearly be complete to number 120 High Street by the end of the week.
- Car parking spaces in this location will have to be suspended during works for operational reasons. Conway and the Council are committed to maintaining as much car parking possible during works. Parking spaces will therefore not be suspended other than for necessary operational reasons.
- The High Street was now reverted back to one directional traffic north from Village Way to Beckenham Junction similar to prior the Christmas break. TFL have confirmed that information will be displayed on the bus stops accordingly. For more information, please visit tfl.gov.uk/TempBusChanges “
Unfortunately Thames Water will be continuing works outside Kelsey Square until the 2nd February. These works have no connection to the improvement scheme.
Outside of Beckenham Town Centre other Council departments may carry out essential works such as tree pruning or safety improvements to paving. These works are frequently carried by other contractors and not Conway. The project team therefore cannot be aware of all activities in the Beckenham area.
