Changes to services on the Hayes Line from 2022

The Southeastern franchise for rail services in south east London is subject to re-tender in 2019, for services starting in 2022. As part of the tender process, the Department for Transport is requiring tenderers to bid for the Hayes Lines, which will involve changes to current services. There will still be four trains an hour on this line but trains will no longer go direct to Cannon Street, but a new twice hourly service will be started to London Victoria. Charing Cross services would not stop at Lewisham. Victoria services would stop at Lewisham and then at Nunhead, Peckham and Denmark Hill. This would be useful for people needing to visit Kings Hospital.

We are not aware of any consultations about this change. DfT claim that the Cannon Street route is poorly used. It may well be that local people would prefer a direct route to Victoria instead, including better access to Kings.
