St James Church Summer Fair

Beckenham High Street Improvement Updates

Work for weeks commencing the 26th June 2017. Provided by Conways.

  • Kerb laying and new paving will commence north from Pierluigis towards Church Avenue. Car parking will be suspended at this location.
  • Strengthening materials will continue to be laid under the new parking bays along The High Street between Rokewood Apartments and Thornton’s Corner.
  • Additional drainage will continue to be installed at Thorntons Corner and new kerbing will be completed.
  • Temporary surfacing will be laid at Thorntons Corner to reopen the pavement and remove the safety barriers.
  • The construction of the new planters on Beckenham Green will continue.

Previous completed works

  • Structural works for the Beckenham Green planters has continued.
  • The crossover to Rokeswood Apartments was completed (1 day earlier than anticipated).
  • Drainage, road strengthening and kerbing has been laid at Thorntons Corner.

Beckenham High Street Updates

Work for weeks commencing the 19th June 2017.

  • New paving will be laid in the crossover to Rokeswood Apartments.

The entrance to Rokewood Apartments will be closed to vehicles for a minimum time from 8:00am on Tuesday 20th June through to Thursday 22nd at 16:30pm. Residents and users of this car park have being notified. Alternative parking will be arranged during this time for authorised users. If you do not need to use your car during these dates it can remain in situ.

  • The construction of the new planters on Beckenham Green will continue. The structures have been designed in consultation with the Councils arboriculturalist. Each root will be boxed in a pipe/chamber to protect it with leverage for growth.
  • Transport for London will continue to carry out modification works to the traffic signals on the corner of Albemarle Road and the High Street.

An Evening of Music for Choir and Concert Band

Beckenham Concert Band and their special guests, The Choir of the Royal Free Music Society, present “An Evening of Music for Choir and Concert Band” in aid of ‘The Cancer Centre at Guy’s’. The programme includes music from ‘Grease’, The Blues Brothers’, ‘Les Miserables’ ‘Frank Sinatra’ and much more.

 The Concert on Saturday 24 June 2017 at St Barnabas Church, Perth Road Beckenham, is free with a retiring collection in aid of the charity. Doors open at 7:00 for a 7:30 start.

” The Beckenham Concert Band has partnered with Choir of The Royal Free Music Society for several concerts on both sides of the Thames. This time we come together to enjoy making music and to raise funds for the Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital which brings cancer care under one roof, and whose vision is to be “a world leader in caring for people with cancer – continuously innovating to improve the lives of our patients”.”

  The Beckenham Concert Band was founded in 1977 by the late Ken Messenger and is a community band performing in the Borough of Bromley and throughout London and the South East. 2017 is their 40th anniversary year and over that time they have raised many thousands of pounds for local and national charities. The Band’s Musical Director is Dwight Pile-Grey and membership ranges from school students to those who have retired.

 About the Royal Free Music Society

 The Royal Free Music Society is a friendly, non-auditioned choir based at the Royal Free Hospital in North London. The choir was founded in 1999 by staff of the hospital but now includes many members of the local community. The Musical Director is Benjamin Wolf.

 

Beckenham High Street Updates

Beckenham Improvements work update – supplied by Conways

 Work for weeks commencing the 5th June 2017.

 ·       Foundation are continued to be laid for the planters on Beckenham Green. The structures have been designed in consultation with the Councils Arboriculturalist. Each root will be boxed in a pipe/chamber to protect it with leverage for growth.

 ·       Preparation works for new kerb alignment between 106 High Street and 62 High Street will continue with trial holes on Thornton’s Corner, to confirm the location of underground services.

·       It is anticipated that Transport for London will carry out modification works to the traffic signals on the corner of Albemarle Road and the High Street.
