Consultation on future of Homebase site in Penge

There is a public consultation running next week regarding plans to rejuvenate the Homebase site in Penge, owned by Legal & General.
The Homebase lease is expiring early next year and L&G are looking to attract one of the major established supermarket chains to come to the north end of Penge High Street.  In order to do so, substantial improvement works will be undertaken to update the building within the same footprint and height but with the aim of opening up the building and improving pedestrian accessibility.  As well as the food store there will be space for two small retail units internally, such as a café or other local service.   The proposals should help increase the retail attractiveness of this end of Penge High Street and provide more facilities for people living or working in the vicinity.
HardHat, a consultancy, will be running a public consultation drop-in event on the evening of Thursday 3 November between 4 pm and 8 pm in Melvin Hall, Melvin Road.
