Work has now started to re-align the roads at Beckenham Junction station crossroads – Rectory Road, High Street and Albemarle Road.

The aim is to make it easier for large vehicles to turn left from Rectory Road to go across the bridge and into Southend Road. The pavements on the opposite side of the road outside Patrick’s and O’Neils will be made narrower, and the centre of the road shifted, so that the turning circle from Rectory Road can be made wider. There should also be slighter more room for pedestrians at this difficult corner.

At present there is no left turn from Southend Road/ High Street into Albemarle Road. Work is scheduled to last 7 weeks – until mid September.
Work on the major changes to the High Street has again been delayed through more queries from TfL.
